I'm trying to setup nethack on telnet to my media computer on living room. All works well until you start nethack, you can't use shift in the game, which makes the gaming impossible.
The only telnet server software to have worked like I want it to has been goodtech telnet server, but it limits max users to 2 and I have only the demo version anyways.

Do you need shift key only, or there are comboes(ex: shift+x) that you need in the game?

Yeah, you need shift+button combos
