These days I'm a little busy. Except my dayly job as a programmer, I'm helping some friends from the bulgarian academy of science(BAS). I'm programming tools for a project hosted in the Geospace Hydrodynamics Laboratory / Institute of Mechanics / that is sponsored by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, USAF. Thanks to the AFOSR the Geospace people bought 3, 64-bit dual core processor machines. The project goal is detecting solar wind discontinuities. As far as I understand it, it's a kind of detecting solar wind storms. It was created about 3-4 years ago on one of the lab's winnt machines and right now I'm helping addapting it for Fedora Core. We are also planning to impruve the project so that it uses all 3 machines for the calculations (a kind of cluster computing but not that "seriously"). Here is the web site of the project http://space.nat.bg/
It is not too fancy but I think it is interesting enoug to mention.
